Pros and Cons Of Inversion Tables
If you have back pain and want to try something that will make it feel better, test a back pain inversion table. The table is easy to use and can be purchased for use at home. Basically it’s a tilting table. You lie on it with your feet under a support so you don’t slide off. Then you tilt the table as far as you want. You don’t actually hang upside down, but it will tilt quite a ways.
Inversion tables also stimulate circulation within the circulatory system opposing what it would normally assist, and assisting what it would normally oppose, while upright. These tables are also an incredible way to do abdominal and stretching exercises such as sit ups, crunches, spinal flexors, side flexors and extensors. Inversion tables go back to the times of ancient Greece and its great age. Hippocrates started using inversion tables in the time of ancient Greece. Inversion tables function by strapping the feet into a pair of boots attached to the table, and then the body is inverted and suspended. The machines provide support to the back while inverted, as the whole table rotates on the hinges.
The principle behind the table is the same principle as traction. The point is to use something to pull the vertebrae in the back apart. When you’re in traction, some kind of equipment is used to apply tension to your spine. The inversion tables uses gravity. The table only provides temporary relief though. It’s not a long term solution to back pain. But if it helps for even a little while, it’s worth a try if you have chronic or remit tent pain.

Digital Enhancement of Photographs
Digital photography is a quite recent development that has converted the large masses into photographers. It is by far the easiest way to take a snapshot and allows the photographer to enhance its overall features later on. Because digital cameras use rewritable digital memory instead of film, you can have the convenience of taking good shots and eliminating the bad ones. It offers the easiest way of capturing good images and converting them to interesting art pieces.
Indeed, even digital photography has come a long way ever since the first digital cameras and computers entered the consumer market. The development of budget digital cameras has induced tremendous change in the world of photography, as everyone with a digital camera can take a photograph, upload it to their desktop computer and then share it with friends.
The birth of mass photography has also brought a niche for online photography related services. There are several companies that cater the consumers’ needs of this sort. Usually, they offer services such as digital image restoration, photo retouching, and photo editing or digital enhancement. These services bring satisfaction to photo hobbyists, as they are able to develop many “failed” photos into acceptable form.
Even though digital cameras allow immediate feedback on the shot, not all mistakes are easily noted on a small camera screen. Therefore many photographs that look quite right at first will actually need some attention before they can be used on the high resolution needed on for example printing them out.
Enter Digital Enhancement
Digital enhancement is the answer to many of the image quality problems mentioned above. It is the way to improve your shot and make it look more attractive, or the way to recover a photo from a lesser failure. With digital enhancement, you can easily increase the attractiveness of images by simply adjusting the brightness, contrast and sharpness of the image. You are also given the chance to enhance the color balance of the picture. The high resolution of modern digital cameras also allows for digital resizing and cropping later on.
There are many innovative ways to improve a digital photograph using these computer aided techniques. Anyone who is into digital photography can take advantage of the services that offered online, but most enthusiasts want to learn the way to do it themselves. Online photography courses can help.
The professional Adobe Photoshop is a good tool that can also be used by hobbyists. The steep price can push users away from professional tools, but fortunately Photoshop Elements from Adobe or the Paint Shop Pro series from Corel have a cheaper price tag attached. There are also free alternatives available, such a GIMP, the GNU Image Manipulation Program.

Inheritance Book 3
Brisingr is the third volume of the Inheritance Cycle, a high fantasy book series by the author Christopher Paolini. It has been scheduled for publication in 2008. The previous books in the series, Eragon and Eldest, have both been bestsellers. Eragon has also been made into a movie of the same name.
The series was first planned as a trilogy, but was subsequently announced to be a four part series and the name was changed. Paolini announced this in 2007, saying Brisingr would otherwise have been too large.

Cruise Packages!
Some of the greatest places on Earth are offered in cruise packages. Depending on where you want to go and when, you can get a cruise to practically anywhere. If you live in the east coast of the United States, you may have heard about trips from New York to Alaska. You cruise the whole way around the United States and you end up in Alaska. The trip is usually about two weeks or so and you get to enjoy the calming sounds of the water and the excitements of the boat’s activities and don’t forget the beautiful scenery that you get along your trip. Once you’re in Alaska you can see the sights and do many out door activities. However, if Alaska doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, how about going tropical?
Bermuda and the Virgin Islands or Jamaica would also be a nice cruise to set sail for. Bermuda is a very lovely place and a cruise to Bermuda would be a great get away trip. When going to a tropical island you just have to worry about what bathing suit to wear and you can enjoy some ethnic foods and activities. In islands like Jamaica, you spend a lot of your time dancing and it could be a very romantic trip if you are looking for a honeymoon. You can spend days together all alone and enjoy the sights and sunsets. It is truly the most romantic thing to do.
A cruise ship has grown from what a cruise use to be. Many people back in the day just smoked, talked, and drank on the ship, but today, you not only can do all of that, but you can also do activities on the ship. Some of the activities that you may find interesting are dance classes, parties, clubs, card games, scuffle board, and more. Then you can also spend some time docked and on the beaches. If you want to go somewhere special, again Bermuda is the place you might want to set sail to.
In Bermuda, the beaches are not tan, they are not white, but they are pink. All the shell particles that come to the beach or shore has made the entire beach look pink. Doesn’t it should lovely to visit pink beaches? Who would have thought that Bermuda or the Caribbean could be so unique?
However, if still you aren’t interested in taking a trip to an island paradise, what about a trip to Europe? Europe can be one of the most romantic places too and it doesn’t have to be over 80* to be romantic. In Europe you have so many options to wear you want to go and all of the countries in Europe are unique and interesting. You may want to go to Great Britain and then head over to Ireland. The possibilities are endless!

Maine Sailing Vacations
Sailing on the coast of Maine is a unique experience. Sailing here is also called as windjamming. Windjamming is done on board special crafts called schooners that are bigger than yachts, having more than two masts. Schooners glide noiselessly along the water due to their larger mast area. Maine has about 14 schooners, all of which are occupied by people over the peak season. Some of the more famous schooners are the Victory Chimes, Timberwind, J. and E. Riggin and the Mary Day among others.
Schooners were originally designed to transport cargo. Hence, they are spacious. They can accommodate 6 to 40 people including the crew and the deckhand. No prior knowledge is required before boarding a schooner. In fact, if you are enthusiastic enough, the crew would like to teach one or two tricks, thus making the sailing more exciting. Schooners don’t allow very young children; hence it is necessary to check with them beforehand.
The beauty of the Maine coast lies in the various islands that dot its coastline. Most of the islands are deserted. Windjammers anchor their schooners here and spend whole afternoons exploring their beaches. Other islands are tiny fishing villages where people sustain on handicrafts apart from fishing. Windjammers find it quite charming to interact with these natives, learn about their quaint customs and even buy a couple of their artifacts. Sailing along the Maine reveals new experiences each day. The entire sailing vacation lasts roughly a week.
When on board, the daytime is spent glued to the binoculars and observing elusive sea sights. Windjammers can see tortoises, porpoises and even whales surfacing out of the water. Apart from the sights, one important aspect of Maine windjamming is building camaraderie and lasting friendships with people aboard the schooner. Schooners also provide poke boats to people with which they can go individually to smaller inaccessible places along the coasts. Food may be on some beach or even on deck. During nighttimes, the schooner may be anchored on one of the islands and people may enjoy a campfire, or remain sailing and admire the beauty of the night of stars.
Maine windjamming is an experience unlike any other. As schooners are wind-driven, each cruise along the coast of the Maine will be different. There is always something for everyone to do on board. It is an ideal location for family and office get-togethers. A week aboard a Maine windjammer could cost approximately $1000.

How do Physicians Treat Congestive Heart Failure?
Heart failure occurs when the heart is unable to properly pump blood throughout the body. This results in either a systemic or localized edema as fluid builds up in the veins and organs, causing swelling of the extremities as well as the organs themselves .
The swelling and lack of oxygen and nutrients will result in permanent damage to the organs if left untreated, providing a very poor prognosis for the patient. The first stage of treatment for congestive heart failure generally consists of the administration of extra oxygen to attempt to return the oxygen levels in the tissues to normal.
Lifestyle changes are just as important as medications in the long term treatment of heart failure. Learn all about congestive heart failure treatment here.
Your Talents For a Free Cruise
It’s true! You can trade your talents for free (or substantially discounted) luxury cruises. Cruise line management is very interested in keeping their passengers happy at all times. This goal is a bit more challenging on days when the ship’s at sea. To address this issue the cruise lines offer all manner of onboard activity. Many of these activities are staffed by outside people who typically cruise free or at discounted fees paid to booking agencies. One key advantage is the time commitment, which is generally minimal for those who are contracted (usually an hour per day on days when the ship’s at sea). Also, most outside contractors get to bring along a traveling companion who also cruises free.
You may consider whether you could trade your talents for free cruises. To assist in your self-assessment here is a list of positions typically staffed by outside people:
Enrichment Lecturer: Many cruise lines have formal enrichment programs that offer edutainment type programs in a variety of topics. A majority of these programs use destination-driven lectures although many lines will also consider general interest topics.
Arts and Crafts Instructors: Craft classes are an onboard staple at sea. Projects range from so called “high art” like watercolor classes to simple macramé projects. Typically, the more popular classes are those that are also destination related, i.e. handicraft or folk art of one of the countries on the itinerary.
Dance Instructors: These classes too are often related to the destinations being visited, i.e., Line dances (Texas); Meringue (Dominican Republic); Salsa (Puerto Rico), Samba (Brazil), Tarantella (Italy) etc.. Obviously you must have happy feet and know your business, but there is much fun to be had.
Bridge Players: If you enjoy playing bridge and have a “knack” for it, you can spend a couple hours a day in the game room playing in exchange for your cruise. Many times a requirement here is that your traveling companion must be ready, willing and able to sit in on a game should a pair need to be completed in order to play.
Gentleman Host: Single? Chatty? Happy feet? Impeccable manners? Gentleman will be expected to appropriately entertain unescorted ladies on the cruise. Dancing and polite company are the stock in trade for this onboard position.
Computer Instructors: Many cruise lines are very interested in contracting with folks who can deliver a series of onboard computer classes.
The list does not end here. Many cruise lines will consider any kind of tasteful and interesting activity. In any event, trading your talents for free cruises is worth investigating further.

Cruises in the Amazon
Travelling in the Amazon, the world’s most famous river, is a typical dream. But… the Amazon world may be rather different to that which you expect. You may end up disappointed. You should plan your Amazon trip correctly, and shape it to your style and to the time you have to enjoy the Amazon.
There are different ways of visiting the Amazon rainforest. If you are pressed for time, or if you think you would not like to live for four, five, six or more days in a beautiful and calm, but repetitive world of water and trees, then avoid a long river trip.
In that case, a quick flight to Manaus (a city in the very heart of the Amazon, 1,000 miles upstream from the river mouth) is preferable. Once there, you can model the tour to your tastes. You can enjoy several short local cruises, you can explore some rainforest treks, you can swim and fish, you can visit local people living in the forest (the «caboclos»), you can get a good grasp of what the rainforest and the river are… And you can even play golf.
This option demands a stay of, say, 3 or 4 days minimum. It all depends on what you want.
Another alternative when visiting the Amazon involves a longer tour on the river – typically a trip from Belem (at the mouth of the Amazon) to Manaus, or the inverse.
This cruise can be made on a transatlantic cruiser, and includes a great range of cities and ports outside the Amazon. Tours of two weeks are very common. You just need to cost it, and to book the cruise early enough (there isn’t a regular transatlantic cruiser route to the Amazon, and so you should plan the cruise well in advance).
More adventurous travellers may prefer other kind of boats and travel for a long river cruise. There are, in Belem and Manaus, local tourist riverboats and regular river vessels (for local passengers and goods) making the trip between the two towns.
And these two kinds of riverboats – the tourist and the regular ones - constitute the best way of experiencing the full mood and the immensity of the Amazon (and, in the case of travelling in a regular vessel, the best way to have contact with the real people, and feel their friendly mood, their way of facing the life).
But you should also ponder the possible downsides of these options. One of them is the uncertain duration of the trip: it can be four days, if the weather conditions and the currents and other factors are favourable, but it can also be extended for one, two or more days, which may clash with your travel plans, flights, etc.
Another possible inconvenience involves the regular vessels (not tourist river boats): the toilet facilities in the boats are rather improvised, which can be disagreeable; also, you can be forced to sleep in a hammock, surrounded by local people. So, think well…
In any case, do not also expect to see profuse fauna on your cruise. Birds and monkeys tend to hide themselves in the treetops… You will sense them, but most of the time you will not see them.
What you will see all the time – and feel deeply in your heart - is a different world… a calm green water world. A world with moments of exceptional beauty, but also a repetitive one, with its endless elements succeeding minute after minute, for days on end…
A world in the antipodes of ours, involving another pace, other elements: one that makes us feel small, and awakes thoughts about our place in the universe, and the meaning of our life and our values.

Should the Independent Tour Accident in Chile From Celebrity Cruise Lines Scare You?
After the deadly accident that took place in Chile, while passengers from the Celebrity Cruise Lines were touring independently, I thought I would share an excerpt from our book, How to Make “Your First Cruise the Best Vacation” of Your Life. After reading our advice from this excerpt, please see my comments on the piece and the accident at the bottom.
What About Touring? (Excerpt from the eBook)
Tours can be purchased form the cruise line, done on your own or you can combine the two. Booking it through the lines has some advantages. Some of them are obvious. The cruise line has thoroughly examined the places they will take you and will rate them according to their difficulty so you know ahead of time if this is the right tour for you. They are always run by local tour companies and these companies want to keep that business.
Their equipment is A-one and they always have English speaking tour directors. (They also supply other language guides.) You never have to wait in line to get into museums or other attractions- a big time saver. And of course, all of the work is done for you by the tour companies and the cruise line. And it is safe. The cruise lines would never put you in a dangerous situation. There are always a couple of cruise line employees on the tour to make sure no one gets lost and that the bus leaves with the same amount of people that it started with.
When going to a new or exotic port I would recommend the cruise lines excursions. Some of the most wonderful excursions we have taken were cruise line tours. Imagine flying the Spruce Goose over the mail route to outlying salmon fisheries in Alaska or hitting all the highlights of Rome in one day, or going to China Beach in Vietnam. These are things we never could have arranged on our own.
Every country has an embassy or a tourism web page to give you information on destinations, festivals, feast days, or the days of Carnival in Buenos Aires.
The shore excursion booklet will also provide you with information on how difficult or easy the tour is. This is especially important for people with any sort of disability. The duration of the trip and any stops along the way are included and on many, lunch is part of the tour. When traveling in foreign ports such as Russia you will dine on the regional food.
Really, for a first time visit this is the way to go. And if you chose this option, when the tour guide tells you to be back at the bus at a certain time, be there. By being late you are inconveniencing all the others on the tour and jeopardizing the remaining stops that are scheduled. The tour company has an appointed time to get you back to the bus and they always honor that. When you get back to the ship look all around your seat for your belongings and don’t forget the rack overhead.
A little etiquette while touring on a bus: Leave the front and second seats for people who are on canes or have difficulty walking. It’s hard to get down bus aisles when you have a disadvantage.
On the flip side of cruise excursions, you will be traveling in buses with lots of people. Here you will encounter lost time loading and unloading of lots of people. It will always be more expensive than doing it on your own. You’re paying for the work that has gone into the sites visited and the expertise of the guide. Then there is the problem of the people who want to shop and those who just want to see the cultural sights. And although this has never happened to me in over 50 cruises, you might get a guide that is difficult to understand.
When touring on your own, make sure you have the name and number of the port agent in case of an emergency. (This is quite handy if you miss the ship).
The cruise lines in most cases will let you know what a typical taxi ride will cost if you are only going into town. Always negotiate the cost of the tour before the taxi ride. Be sure to speak to the tour desk to find out if there are any areas that are unsafe to visit.
There have been a couple of times where we toured independently but used the cruise lines excursion list as a guide to what to see in that area of the world. If you meet some fun people on the cruise buddy up with them on the cab ride to reduce the price. If you are going to book excursions through the cruise lines do it early or better still do it before the cruise. Most lines will let you do this.
Comments after the Accident.
Though all of the above is solid advice, I would add a word of caution. In the poorer areas of the world, I believe it is much safer to go with the cruise excursions tour options. The cruise lines only hire companies that have been thoroughly screened and have superior equipment. In the third world countries, by using local companies you do not have this guarantee. I am not saying that the tour company involved in this accident was substandard, since accidents do happen, but I question the route they were taking. A local Chilean official said that the road was very dangerous, curvy and narrow. I do not believe a cruise company tour group would have taken such a route.
You must use common since when booking excursions. Of course, it will be safer to tour with the cruise lines in places like Viet Nam or China or even Africa. On the other hand you could feel perfectly safe taking an independent in tour in the Caribbean or Alaska. For more information of the eBook, “First Cruise Best Cruise” see the website below.
