Project: Glowing Goblins

Posted in Children by admin on the May 22nd, 2008

This project is perfect for the artistically challenged or those who prefer instant gratification. My young sons completed theirs in just 15 minutes.

Supplies

Glass Votive (any size or shape)

Solid Black Halloween Stickers (bats, witches, ghosts, etc.)

-OR-

Stencils, Stamps, and Black Acrylic Paint

Orange Tissue Paper, Torn Into Pieces

2 TBSP White Glue

2 TBSP Water

Craft Brush

Directions

1. Adhere stickers onto the outside of the votive -OR- If using stencils or stamps, paint heavily enough that no light shines through the shapes. Let dry completely.

2. Mix glue and water. Paint glue onto the outside of glass, on top of the stickers.

3. While the glue is wet, layer pieces of tissue paper and glue until the entire votive is covered and the tissue is saturated.

4. Turn the votive upside down to dry (a hairdryer speeds up the process).

5. Once dry, add a tea light and let the glow from these festive candles welcome the neighborhood spooks.

Pit Biking in the soul

Posted in College Education, Content Is King, Children, Adventurous Life by admin on the March 19th, 2008

Is pitbiking in your soul? or just your soil? - I have been pitbiking for over 2 years now and I can’t stop - its what I love doing - it makes me happy and I love it. I am into my third series of pitbiking videos that I make by strapping a little camera to the front and back of my pit bike then doing crazy stunts over at my mates house.

My pitbiking videos are pretty popular with the kids who like the fact that I do stunts that aren’t too crazy but still look awesome when filming them with a wide angle lense strapped to a camera strapped to my 125cc pit bike. I have to say that the video editing is becoming sloppier but who cares - bikers aren’t exactly clean people!

Maternity Clothes are Becoming a Trend

Posted in Children by admin on the February 3rd, 2008

There is no reason why pregnant women can now wear all the new and fun styles that are so popular today. Pregnant women do not have to look like a tent while they are growing bigger each day. There are so many new and fun clothes that women can wear today. They are going to see that there are new choices for women and what they can wear when getting pregnant.

It used to be that women had to wear the big and bulky pants with huge tops that had no color or style to them. For most of the clothes, they had no flair to them and did not flatter the women who wore them. Most of the time, the women who wore them looked like a big tent as their belly grew. These clothes may have been comfortable, but they did make the women feel good about how they looked.

Today, there is hope for pregnant women and the maternity clothes that they wear. So many designers are coming up with new and improved ideas for their maternity clothing line. Now there are great colors that make the women feel good about themselves and they are no longer blending in with the walls.

The lines of the new maternity clothes are more defined and give the pregnant women a bodyline instead of looking like a big ball. The lines of the clothes are designed to let the women have plenty of room for their growing belly and let them feel comfortable and at the same time, the clothes will also fit them better and give them a more defined look.

Maternity clothes can be found for all seasons. There are cool and comfortable summer clothes as well as clothes for the fall and winter. One of the greatest development today is the jean. The jeans are designed to look more like the styles of today and are made to fit the women so that they can move and be comfortable.

It is important for maternity clothes to make the pregnant woman feel good about her. This is a very hard period for some women because of their growing and changing bodies. It is so important for women to have clothes on that fit them well and make them feel good about how they look. Everyone wants to look good and feel good and the same is true for pregnant women.

Going maternity clothes today is a lot more fun to shop for. There is a bigger selection for women to choose from and there are styles out there for every body type and any personality. Just because you are pregnant does not mean that you have to look boring and miserable. Now you can look fresh, fun and fabulous!

What’s With Celebrity Baby Names?

Posted in Children by admin on the December 9th, 2007

It seems that the days of naming your son or daughter with your own name and adding a second, third or a fourth sign in roman numerals at the end are fading away. This seems to be especially the case with celebrities. The more unique, the better! As to whether celebrities are simply a little loopy, or whether they simply like the attention that a unique baby name will bring, we do not know. What we do know is that the names just keep getting crazier and crazier. Below is a list of some of our favorite celebrity baby names over the years.

Banjo - Patrick & Rachel Griffiths. This choice of name was based on the main character from ‘The man who came to dinner’.

Apple - Gwyneth Paltrow & Chris Martin. We don’t even think the parents understand why they chose this name!

Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lilly, Fifi Trixibelle, Peaches Honeyblossom - Paula Yates. Definetely three of the most ‘out there’ names in the history of baby names!

Jett - John Travolta & Kelly Preston. Well, John has always loved airplanes, so we’ll let them get away with this one.

Zowie - David Bowie. Doesn’t seem that bad, until you realise that with the last name it makes “Zowie Bowie”.

Rumer Glenn, Tallulah Belle, Scout LaRue - Bruce Willis & Demi Moore. At least there are some normal names mixed in there, but still among our craziest!

Daisey Boo - Jamie Oliver. Typical celebrity, had to chuck in the “Boo” at the end.

Pilot Inspektor - Scott Lee & Beth Riesgrat. This kid is going to have a hard time at school.

Milo - Ricky Lake. This is okay, just so long as she doesn’t name her second child “Otis”.

Elijah Bob Patricius Guggi Q - Bono. Bono had definetely put some thought into this one!

Prince Michael, Prince Michael II, Paris Michael - Michael Jackson. We think this is just too many Michaels for one house hold.

Dexter, Diane Keaton. Only just acceptable for a boy, but would you believe this is her daughters name?

Moon Unit, Ahmet Emuukha Roden, Dreezil, Diva - Frank Zappa. Once again, among the craziest baby names in history.

Ocean, True, Sonnet - Forest Whitaker. We dont’t mind the name Sonnet, but you can make your own mind up on the other two.

Betty Kitten, Honey Kinney, Harvey Kirby - Jane Goldman & Jonathan Ross. We wouldn’t name our kids these names, but they do have a nice ring to them.

Become A Nerd Today!

Posted in Children by admin on the November 25th, 2007

So you want to be a nerd.

At this point, we must add a paragraph. You see, I’m not allowed to put an active link into the first paragraph of an article. Well, that should do it!

Well, first go to: http://www.femalenerd.com/me/know-nerd.html to see if you are already a nerd.

If you pass that test then you must take one more test: My test!

Here it is:

You know π to 20 decimal places. (3.14159265358979323846)

You know the location of Mymensingh. (Pakistan)

You know that that an atomic submarine passed under the North Pole and not the South Pole. (Antarctica is a continent and a submarine would bump its nose on the continental shelf.)

You know the polar bear population at the South Pole and the Penguin population at the North Pole. (Zero)

You know who Kaiser Wilhelm II called “Grandma.” (Queen Victoria)

You know the countries that border Belarus. (Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Poland)

You understand the “Uncertainty Principle.” (For a quantum particle such as an electron or photon—“The more precisely the position is determined, the less precisely the momentum is known in this instant, and vice versa.”)

You know what a “magnetic domain” is. (A magnetic domain is a region in which the magnetic fields of atoms are grouped together and aligned.)

You know that anyone can find the answers to the above questions in seconds by using the Google Search Bar on your computer. (Get it at: http://toolbar.google.com/) If you add the Google Search Bar to your computer you can be as nerdy as you want!

Don’t forget the CIA “World Factbook” for country information. Go to: http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/.

Have fun!

The End

Anime Bringing People Together

Posted in Internet Social Resources, Children, Creativity by admin on the July 28th, 2007

The world of anime - a place where fantasy and reality meet; a place for people to meet and have fun. Well, that’s the concept behind Anime Online, a forum / community developed for those interested in anime, manga, graphic design and as a general place to hang out and chill. Here we have a group of teenagers to adults making new friends, and all having a passion for Dragon Ball, Naruto, Bleach, Gundam or other anime series.

The site has expanded over the years, and now helps members with graphic arts, anime backgrounds and design work. Boasting over 50,000 members, you can be sure to get the advice and relaxation you are looking for.

Over recent years, there has been a strong following in this type of Japanese cartoon and comic work. It’s a raging success in Japan, and you can often see office workers commuting each day on the trains reading their favourite manga stories. Now in the US, Cartoon Network regularly airsĀ  a variety of anime series each week, with Storm Hawks currently playing.
