Visiting Venice for your Italy Vacation

Posted in A Life Of Leisure by admin on the October 28th, 2008

If you go on a vacation in Italy it is almost necessary that you visit Venice. Everyone who has ever been to Italy has an almost classic picture of them in a “vaporetti” or a “gondola” with a canal for a backdrop. This famous Italian city found in the north is also sometimes known as the city of water, the city of bridges and the city of lights. Vaporetti are motorized buses used by Venetians for transportation around the city’s canals while the gondola is a Venetian boat that is now used mostly by tourists and sometimes for weddings or funerals. The city is made up of several small islands, 118 to be exact hence the need for water transportation and the many bridges.

There are 150 canals and 400 bridges. There are also several art galleries and all together these make for an exciting experience when you are on an Italy vacation.

You can get a Venice card which allows you free access for seven days into the museums and casinos. You will also get free waterbus or vaporetti services plus a free boat trip from the airport with this card. The airport in Venice is on the main land and is newly renovated. You can go to the train station from here to get to other parts of Venice. If you are driving on your Italy vacation you can also get to Venice by car but you will need to take a Ferry boat. The least expensive garage in Venice is the Tronchetta garage so you can park there and take a public boat or hire a private water taxi which can be expensive. You will be able to get one way vaporetti tickets, all day passes or if you are spending more time here for your Italy vacation you could also get a 72 hour pass.

If you are in Venice you must tour the city by a gondola. There are several tours available. For something really different during your Italy vacation in Venice and if you are really in the mood for it, perhaps you can even take what is called a serenade tour. The tour is accompanied by a singer (usually a baritone) and a guitarist or someone playing the accordion. Several of these tours leave from piers near hotels in Venice. Your trip will probably be a little under an hour and you may see landmarks such as the Church of Santa Maria Formosa and the Bridge of Sighs.

This bridge received it name because it is said that prisoners would get their last view of the City of Venice from here when on their way to confinement. If you are in Venice for your Italy vacation with a significant other make sure you take a gondola trip that will be going under this bridge under sunset. Legend says that lovers will be assured eternal love if they kiss under this bridge at sunset.

Venice is usually crowded with tourists in the summer months so if you can, visit during the off season. Or you can simply opt for a private gondola tour which may be more expensive but will be away from all the crowds.

Second Wedding Anniversary Gift

Posted in Better Shopping by admin on the October 26th, 2008

There are many times when those married to each other are the only ones that worry about buying gifts when it comes time to have an anniversary. However, there are some who love to give the couple something each year, at least for the first five years of marriage. If you are one of those people, you already know that this is sometimes a hard gift to buy. When it comes to the second wedding anniversary gift, it can be hard to find things that might fit in with both the traditional and the modern gift theme.

If you go by traditional standards, the second wedding anniversary gift is something made of cotton. That might seem like a limited choice, but if you use your imagination, you can actually come up with some really great ideas in that category. When you think of cotton, there are a few things that pop to mind, but you might not think they are something you want to buy. However, you can find some great ideas for second wedding anniversary gifts in the cotton theme if you put some thought into it and think about the couple you are going to buy for.

When thinking of cotton, you can think of sheets, and you can think of clothing. Those are two things that you might not want to buy for the couple, but you can get them a gift certificate to a clothing store, or to a bed and bath store. They will know what they need, and that way, you can then allow them to choose the gift that will mean the most of them. If they don’t know about the cotton tradition for the second wedding anniversary gift, find a cute way to let them know in their card, or by just telling them about the gifts for each year.

If you go by more modern ideas for the second wedding anniversary gifts, you can buy them something with china. That can mean getting them something to go with the china they may have had on their registry for their wedding. They may not have gotten everything, and if you know the type and brand, you can find something they need. You can find other interesting gifts for this anniversary theme as well, but you may have to shop around to find something you think might be a great gift. You may try looking online for other great ideas.

How To Get More Buyers

Posted in Marketing by admin on the October 25th, 2008

Everybody talks about building a list don’t they?

So we go out and try to find people to sign up for our list. If we’re lucky, after a few months we get a few hundred subscribers and we get excited…but then the kiss of death:

We email our subscribers to pitch a product. We wait a day or two for the sales to come in.

The days pass by and nothing happens. What went wrong?

We sent the perfect email pitch, we have built trust with our list, we’ve given tons of useful content… everything we’ve been told to do, right?

Here’s the answer:

We’ve just spent the last few months building a list of freebie seekers who will NEVER buy from us, no matter what we do for them.

That’s the golden ticket to breaking free from a nose diving list to a big business through email marketing. If you can spend your time finding targeted, responsive buyers that will give you their name and email address (instead of the tire kickers) then you’ve just solved one of the biggest mysteries to online success.

So instead of going after 20k of people who couldn’t care less what you’ve got to offer, why not go for a list of 500 people who WILL buy what you’re selling? I know which one I’d choose, how about you?

In the past, the best way to get subscribers was to give a freebie away as this was always irresistible to visitors. However, those visitors may not ever be interested in buying stuff online, particularly the types of products you’re selling.

Whilst this idea varies from market to market, generally speaking this is the reason why giving things away to get people on your list is a huge energy hog and should be avoided where possible. Save your free stuff for your newsletter if you want to build a proven list of buyers.

When building your list, you should try to think about targeting the types of people that have proven themselves to be responsive to offers, or that have actually bought a low cost, entry level product from you in order to get on your list.

Because once they have trusted you enough to buy from you, then the battle in virtually won! All you have to do is build a relationship with these buyers and deliver value. Then it will be very easy to sell to them over and over again, gradually pitching higher priced items as they buy more and more from you.

This is something that you can do whether you own a product or whether you’re just an affiliate selling other people’s products.

This is just the tip of the iceberg with finding targeted subscribers. If you would like to know how to rake in tons of targeted subscribers in as little as 24 hours, then you should check out a new course by list building, email expert - Michael Rasmussen.

Daniel Waser is a full time internet marketer who makes a living online from the comfort of his home. Do you also dream from working from home, having more time for your family and friends? Go and check out how to get more buyers and read his honest get more buyers review to learn more about building your list of hungry buyers with Michael’s advice, whether you own a product or not.

Classical Music Online

Posted in Better Music by admin on the October 20th, 2008

When our classical music radio station in Detroit closed down, I was absolutely devastated. Here I was, in a major city, and there was no way for me to listen to classic music on the radio in the car. Most cities had two classical stations at least, and at one point Detroit had as well. Don’t get me wrong - public radio still played a lot of classical composers, but only during certain programs. Much of the time, I would have to bring my own CDs with me if I wanted to hear classical compositions.

That is why it was so overjoyed when I discovered classical music online. I have never really studied classical music history very much, and I don’t know the music that well. All I know is that I like it. That is why it is nice for me to have a DJ to play it for me. I don’t really have to think about it. I can just sit back and let the music wash over me. Classical music radio was great for that, but online radio stations are also good.

Of course, even if you are a more knowledgeable classical fan, you can still find what you need online. There are plenty of classical music downloads out there that a lot of my friends take advantage of. This is an especially good way to find the works of new composers. A lot of art music composers are absolutely desperate to find fans nowadays. They are perfectly willing to make their performances available for free in hopes that you will become familiar with their works and want to see them live. They put their classical music online and spread the word as far as they can. The only difficulty is finding out about these artists.

That is where Internet streaming radio comes in. A lot of online Internet Djs make it their business to be extremely knowledgeable about current trends in music and entertainment. They will point you to some of the hottest musicians in whatever genre interests you. A lot of people don’t expect classical music online to be so fertile, but it really is. It seems that nowadays whenever a genre loses popularity in the outside world, it finds refuge on the Internet. Classical music online is no exception. Whether you are into the works of the Romantic period, the high classical composers, or more modern art music, you can find it on the Internet.

Choosing a Good Obedience School for Your Dog

Posted in Animal Center by admin on the October 10th, 2008

Most dog owners want their dog to be well-behaved and well-trained. Even with our best efforts, we don’t always have enough time to spend on properly training our dogs and they can become a little problematic. The good news is that you can get help by signing your dog up for obedience school.

Is your dog disobedient? Have you given up on trying to make your dog obey your commands? Do you often find chewed up items when you return from work? Do you avoid walking your dog in broad daylight because you don’t want the neighbors to see how poorly behaved he is when around other dogs and people? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you need to realize that you don’t have to give up transforming your dog into a controllable and well-behaved dog. By properly training your dog, your life will become a lot easier. Your dog will always come to you when you call him. You won’t get into legal problems because of your dog aggressing the neighbor’s kid and you won’t get complaints from the neighbors because your dog doesn’t stop barking or howling.

An obedience school trainer will be able to give you an idea about how you can make your pet pay attention to you. These trainers will train your dog on how to act with other dogs and people around. They will also teach your dog fundamental instructions (sit, stay, heel and come). Your dog will also enjoy training as he gets to spend time with you, which is what he wants first and foremost.

Selecting a dog obedience school is a little like picking a school for your kids. You want to make the right decision so you should look at all your options before making a decision. Fortunately, you will be attending along with your dog, so you’ll know for sure if you made the right decision. Talk to friends, coworkers and family members who have used obedience schools and see if they would recommend a school to you.

You can also contact the obedience school and ask for the contact information of one of their previous customers. Be ready with a list of questions before you call this person out of the blue! If you hear positive things about the school you are considering, then it’s a good sign. If you don’t, you should look elsewhere.

You should also include a visit to the obedience schools that you are considering. After all, you want to train your dog in a nice atmosphere, don’t you? Check to see if the buildings appear structurally sound and well kept and if the instructors are well trained. You want to find a school where you and your dog will be comfortable.

Take the time to get to know the trainers at the dog obedience school you are considering. Ask them which techniques they use and you can even bring your dog to visit to make sure he would enjoy this particular training school. If both you and your dog are comfortable with a trainer, obedience training will be a lot smoother.

Affiliate Marketing: Discover the Different Types Available

Posted in Marketing by admin on the October 8th, 2008

Affiliate marketing can refer to any sort of online revenue sharing system that involves selling and advertising. It started in late 1994 with many e-commerce businesses using affiliate marketing to promote and sell their products and services. Some of these businesses became quite successful thanks to the awesome results they got from affiliate marketing. This is probably why affiliate marketing is still a serious and important strategy for e-commerce sites.

Once a webmaster decides to become an affiliate for an e-commerce merchant that offers subscription services, goods or other services, this affiliate can earn income by referring visitors to the merchants site using one of the following methods:

1) PPC or Pay-Per-Click systems allow affiliates to display ads or links on their sites and they receive money when visitors click on these ads or links.

2) Blogs, RSS feeds or other types of personal sites can also be used to market and promote products. In fact, they are increasing in popularity and many merchants benefit from this type of promotion.

3) Shopping directories and comparison sites include reviews of particular products or services and also post ads.

4) Loyalty sites have a reward system in place that provides cash back or some kind of points system. Some loyalty sites also allow charitable donations.

5) Coupon sites only market and promote products and services.

6) Email lists are created by subscribers signing up for such emails, normally through the affiliates website and are therefore not considered spam.

7) Registration with a specific site, a newsletter, subscription or special offers can allow advertisement or promotion.

8) Affiliate marketing networks can function as multi-tier or Multi-Level Marketing (MLM).

Dog Tricks: How To Teach Your Dog Go Find Anything You Ask For

Posted in Animal Center by admin on the October 7th, 2008

One of the best ways to bond with your dog, while at the same time stimulating his mind, is to teach him new tricks as often as possible. Training a dog to learn new things not only gets his mind working, but also teaches the brain to analyze and process information, thus producing a more intelligent and responsive dog.

Another interesting aspect of teaching your dog new tricks everyday is that he will start to understand specific words within the human language. For instance, below we are going to show you how to teach your dog to “Find It”. After persistent training and practice of this trick, your dog will eventually be able to find a specific toy within a pile of dozens of other objects. Not only is this entertaining for you, but it activates the animal’s thinking process by expanding his understanding of your vocabulary.

The Trick: Find It!
To begin training, line up about six or seven objects on the floor. Then ask your dog to locate a specific one. It is much easier if you start by sending your dog to retrieve something that he is familiar with.

For example, his favorite toy or food dish would be perfect starter objects. Now place the specific object you want him to find right next to a group of other, unfamiliar objects. The other items should be made up of boring, non-attractive things, such as a book, or a glass, etc. The reason for this is to make it easier for him to make the obvious choice when first being introduced to this trick.

Now point your finger to all of the objects that are lying on the floor and tell your dog to “Find The Toy”. Without much hesitation he should put the right object in his mouth, and when he does, shower him with praise and offer a treat.

If your dog already knows how to fetch then have him bring the toy back to you. And if he does not know how to fetch then this is a great time to get him started!

Important: If you give your dog a treat for his good work at finding the right object, do not feed it to him while that particular object is lying close by. Dogs are quick to associate positive feelings with many experiences, and he might only go for the toy simply because he thinks he will get a treat each time, thus preventing him from learning new objects later on.

The next step is to place a different item amongst the pile of objects. Perhaps this time choose his food dish or a small ball. Run the sequence over again by pointing to the object and telling him to “Find The Dish”.

If he picks the wrong item, say “Nope”, and repeat “Find The Dish” over and over until he makes the right choice. Eventually he will be able to associate the name of each object and fetch it for you without fail.

First Aid For Dogs with Respiratory Problems

Posted in Animal Center by admin on the October 6th, 2008

One of the most dangerous things that could happen is when someone stops breathing. The truth to this is undisputable and even rather obvious for anyone reading it, but interestingly this is something that dog owners rarely think about in relation to their dog. What would you do if your dog stopped breathing? Or, even began choking? No, panic is not the answer I was looking for!

The most common reason for respiratory problems in dogs is some type of blockage in the airways. For instance, there is a good chance that a dog will swallow his tongue if he somehow knocks himself unconscious. Should this happen, you must clear the airway with first aid for dogs and attempt to get him breathing again.

First aid for dogs pertaining to the respiratory system is, actually, fairly similar to first aid used with humans. Listen to the heartbeat, feel for a pulse and look for any respiration signs. In fact, artificial respiration is something to consider in first aid for dogs. Applying a combination of both a heart massage and the kiss of life can be equally effective in saving a dog’s life as it can on a human. For respiratory problems, first aid is fairly similar.

However, you should not attempt artificial respiration when giving first aid for dogs if you suspect poison has been used. Trying to resuscitate your dog when poison has been used puts you in danger. Always take your dog to the vet after you have given first aid for respiratory difficulties. But, when poison could be involved, always take him or her to the vest before administering first aid. Go ahead and try the heart massage technique but stay away from the mouth area.

First aid for dogs has saved many dogs’ lives and will continue to. Unfortunately, though, the odds are not great once he or she begins experiencing breathing problems. Performing artificial respiration may not save your dog’s life, but you must try as it has saved dogs’ lives in the past.
